Artist statement:

This real time generative installation contains several simultaneous referential and contemplative layers. It is an attempt to multiplex several threads of speculation into a single installation piece where the reading is to be done by the relations between the physical and referential material used and in conjunction with the ongoing generative. Please choose the mindset you find most appropriate for interpretation.

Technical:

The sound and visuals are interacting in both directions. The audio is a real time transmutation of the Bonanza theme song, the television series from the 1960's about the Cartwright brothers and their adventures in the wild west. The generative visuals are in parted in two, where the underlying canvas layer contains a rhythmic visual response to the stuttering sound track. On top there is an computerized attempt of drawing similar to human doodling. At first the software focuses on a part of the source painting, tries to sketch the outlines of the scene and after that turn into attempts of filling in details. Though it manages to outline recognizable details of the source, it never reaches a fully realistic depiction. The visual source material is derived from the national romantic painting of vikings and valkyrias riding across the sky by Peter Nicolai Arbo.
